Srinagar, May 27 (KAT): The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) have announced scheduled power shutdowns across several areas of the Kashmir Valley this week to facilitate maintenance and branch cutting works along major transmission lines.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33 KV Nihalpora–HMT line will be carried out to allow branch cutting and pruning of trees along the alignment. Consequently, the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Mirgund and Shadipora will remain off, affecting power supply to Mirgund, Rambilgarh, Shadipora and surrounding areas from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM on May 29.
Similarly, to facilitate stabilization and maintenance works, the 33 KV Kongamdara line will be shut on May 31, impacting the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Kunzar, Dhobiwan, Kongamdara, and Ahmadpora. Power supply to the aforementioned areas and nearby localities will remain affected from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM on the day.
In Srinagar, a shutdown has also been scheduled for the 33 KV GIS Tengpora–Exhibition (Tapline) Allochibagh Bund Portion line for branch pruning purposes. This will affect Receiving Stations at GIS Batamaloo, Court Complex Moominabad, and Tengpora. Power supply to Nundresh Colony B, Batamaloo, Moominabad, Batamaloo Adda, and the Court Complex will remain off from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on May 28.
Separately, the Chief Engineer of JKPTCL has confirmed the shutdown of the 132 KV Double Circuit Amargarh–Arampora Transmission Line to complete balance stringing works at tower locations 19X, 39X, and 45X. The outage will disrupt power supply to a wide swath of areas including Handwara, Zachaldara, Magam, Dolipora, Kralpora, Tangdhar, Keran, Machil, Lolab, Khumeriyal, Chogal, Panzgam, Karihama, Trehgam, Hyhama, Tartahpora, Vilgam, Sogam, Divar, Krusen, Drugmulla, and Phuropeth, as well as DC residences and offices. The shutdown will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on May 28.(KAT)
