Srinagar, July 22 (KAT): Vehicular movement on the Magam-Beerwah National Highway (NH-44) has been suspended from both ends following heavy rainfall across the highway and multiple incidents of shooting stones and mudslides.
An official from the Police Department told news agency Kashmir Abb Tak that traffic has been stopped between Magam and Beerwah sides as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
He said heavy rainfall along the entire stretch of the highway has triggered multiple shooting stone incidents and mudslides, making the road unsafe for vehicular movement.
The official advised commuters not to undertake any journey on NH-44 until the weather improves and the highway is declared safe for traffic.
He further urged the public to verify the latest road status through the official Traffic Police social media handles, including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Traffic Control Units (TCUs), before planning their travel.(KAT)
