Five Drug Peddlers Arrested in Pulwama and Bandipora Districts - KASHMIR ABB TAK

Bandipora, 12 October 2021,(KAT) : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested five drug peddlers in Pulwama and Bandipora districts in Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.


 

Besides, a police spokesman in a statement issued to the News Agency —(KAT - Kashmir Abb Tak) destroyed wild bung spread over a vast area in Shopian.


He said that a police party led by SHO PS Pulwama at a traffic checking point near Khamray Crossing intercepted a Santro Car bearing registration number JK01G-4932 with two persons on board.



They have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Thoker, son of Gh Hassan Thoker of Sonasamil and Yamin Rashid, son of Ab Rashid Malik of Malikpora Pulwama.


 

On checking, 370 grams of Charas, two digital weighing machines and cash Rs 10000 was recovered, he said, adding that they have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.



The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been sized, police said.


Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 288/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been taken up.


Meanwhile, police in Bandipora acting on specific information regarding movement of drug peddlers in Sumbal area intensified patrolling in the area.



“The patrolling party led by SHO PS Sumbal intercepted three persons in suspicious condition. On their search, 17 bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Majid Mushtaq Shangu, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shangu of Osangrampora Sopore, Shafat Ahmad Shah, son of Muzafar Ahmad Shah of Shaalpora Sopore and Nazir Ahmad Sofi, son of Gh Ahmad Sofi of Dilna Baramulla, A/P Sumbal. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody,” police said.


Accordingly, a police spokesman said that a case under FIR number 136/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation has been taken up.


Moreover, Police in Shopian launched an intensified mass destruction drive of Bung (cannabis) in the villages Wachi, Wandina, Melhora and other adjoining areas. During the drive a wild Bung spread over vast areas was destroyed.


Meanwhile, police appealed to people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and cultivation of the contrabands in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling or cultivation will be dealt as per law,” police said—(KAT)
