Srinagar, July 3 (JKON): Family members of missing PhD scholar, Hilal Ahmad Dar on Friday staged a protest, demanding his whereabouts.

“We don’t request or appeal but we beg them, with whom he is, to return our brother. He was a gold medalist and a responsible fellow,” sister of the missing flanked by family members told reporters here.

Hilal went missing on June 14 this year during trekking to Gangabal area in Ganderbal district. On June 23, Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that Hilal has joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. He also made an offer of not arresting Hilal “if the family brings him back”.

“He has not joined militancy and these are the only accusations against him,” Hilal’s sister said as she broke down during the protest at Press Enclave here, according to JKON correspondent.

The family members were also shouting slogans like “release Hilal,” “Stop family harassment,” “End rumours,” etc.

The family members were carrying banner that read “orphan survived by elder brother only”, “save Hilal, find him”, “Save missing scholar etc”.  (JKON)
