Speeding vehicles pose danger to people in Seerbagh Khrew, authorities urged to take measures


Srinagar, Nov 17 (GNS): Locals of Seerbagh, Khrew in outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday appealed to authorities to take immediate measures against “reckless and speeding” vehicles including tippers which according to them pose significant risk to the lives of people.

A delegation of the people from the area told GNS that speeding tippers and truck on the route pose have turned the area into a “danger zone”.

“Hundreds of tippers and trucks ply daily from and towards cement factories and other industrial establishments. Most of the drivers resort to reckless driving and ply with high speed, posing significant dangers to passersby,” they said.  

The locals have requested the authorities to place speed-breakers as well as take other measures which would arrest the trend of speeding by the drivers and in turn ensure there is no mishap leading to any unfortunate incident.

 “We have in past also brought this issue into the notice of the concerned authorities but no concrete steps have been taken so far,” they said, adding, “We urge authorities to act and do not wait for any unfortunate incident to happen.” (GNS)
