Srinagar, February 15 (KAT): Arms and ammunition was recovered from a hideout in forest area Chilla Dhanga in Samba district, said a police spokesperson on Tuesday.
“Acting on the reliable information regarding presence of a hideout in the forest area of Chilla Dhanga, an operation was launched to sanitise the area which was headed by DySP Hqrs Samba along with SHO Samba and In-charge Border Police Post (BPP) Chilla Danga.
“During the search and cordon operation the Police team recovered a arms and ammunition from the hideout in Kawala forest area of Chilla Danga.
The recoveries, as per the spokesperson, include: 29 live rounds; one magazine of AK Rifle and explosive powder.
Police further shared that search operation is still going on in the area and Samba Police is committed to some unknown anti-national elements have dumped this material acquired illegally through some medium to carry out terrorist acts and to cause damage to life and property. By the recovery, the designs of anti-national elements have been foiled and major sabotage has been averted," said the spokesperson on further.
In this regard, a FIR NO 54/2025 U/S 13/16/23 UA (P) Act, 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 4/25 of Explosive Substances Act registered at Police Station Samba and further investigation initiated, reads the statement.(KAT)
