Srinagar, August 25: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah today responded to recent criticisms from Home Minister Amit Shah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti, turning their comments into an opportunity to highlight his party's platform.
In response to Shah's remarks on the NC-Congress alliance, Abdullah expressed satisfaction that the Home Minister had scrutinized the NC manifesto. "I'm happy that the Home Minister has gone through our manifesto.
It's a big achievement for our party," Abdullah stated. He added, "I thank Amit Shah for mentioning our manifesto. After his comments, I re-checked our manifesto to ensure we haven't missed anything."
When questioned about PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti's challenge for NC to surrender all seats if they endorse PDP's manifesto, Abdullah dismissed the proposition, asserting, "PDP's manifesto is a copy of ours." He did not provide further details on this claim.
Abdullah also commented on reports suggesting that Jamaat-Islami might contest the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing the principles of democracy, he remarked, "The beauty of democracy is that anyone can contest polls."
