Srinagar. September 04: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that BJP is using independent candidates to manipulate election outcome.
Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination papers, Omar said that BJP is pushing independent candidates in a bid to form a government with them later but voters would reject this strategy.
"It is clear that the BJP is making a concerted effort to get as many independent candidates elected from J&K as possible, with the aim of forming a government with them later. But I don't think the voters will allow this", he said.
Omar further said that once the results are out, neither the BJP nor their conspiracies will succeed. "The people will speak through their votes, and these attempts by the BJP to manipulate the outcome will fail.
Turning his attention to the Ganderbal constituency, Omar said that he had handed over the seat to Ishfaq Jabbar in 2014, trusting him to fulfill his promises. "If I had contested the election in 2014, Ishfaq Jabbar would not have won. I left the seat because I made a promise to him, but he did not live up to that promise," Omar said.
Omar further said that after 2014, all development work in Ganderbal came to a halt, and this betrayal has compelled him to re-enter the political arena. "We are here today because the people of Ganderbal have been let down. All the work stopped after 2014, and we are determined to restart it," Omar added.
