JKBOSE delays declaration of class 11th results, students anxious

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is yet to declare the results for Class 11 students, leaving thousands of students anxious and uncertain about their academic future.

As per the set norms, JKBOSE is supposed to announce results within 40 days after the culmination of the exam. However, despite the passage of over 40 days since the culmination of exams, the results are yet to be declared.

As per the revised datesheet issued by JKBOSE earlier, the examination of class 11th students in soft zone areas commenced from April 2 of 2024 and culminated on May 1 of 2024 respectively. Similarly, the examination of class 11th students in hard zone areas commenced from April 22 of 2024 and culminated on May 26 respectively.

As per the official figures, the number of students from hard zones who appeared in class 11th exams was less as compared to the number of students in soft zone areas. However, the delay in declaration of the result has badly impacted academic schedules of the students as majority of the students are not joining their next classes without knowing their results.

In wake of this, school attendance has reportedly been thin in schools which has raised concerns among teachers and parents as well. Before the commencement of summer vacation for schools, the attendance of students in schools was reportedly thin.

As per the School Education Department (SED) the schools in Kashmir division will remain closed for summer vacation from July 08 to July 17 of 2024.

“During previous years, the result of all the exams would be declared within 40 days. But this year, JKBOSE delayed the announcement of class 11th result for unknown reasons,” a school teacher told Greater Kashmir, wishing not to be named.

The teacher said the delay in declaration of results has led to a noticeable decline in student attendance. The students and parents have urging the JKBOSE authorities to expedite the process and declare the result as early as possible. “We hope that JKBOSE will act swiftly and declare the results very soon,” said Mansoor Ahmad, a parent from Baramulla.

A top official from JKBOSE said the class 11th result will be declared very soon. He however did not divulge any reasons about the delay in declaration of the result. (Greater Kashmir)
