Srinagar, February 24 (KAT): Continuing its drive against illegal mining and unauthorized extraction of minerals, Police have seized 02 tractors and a JCB involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Palhallan.
In a Hideout to KAT, police said that the tractors were found involved in illegal extraction of minerals. Both vehicles were seized on the spot, and action has been initiated under the relevant provisions of the MMRD Act.
Meanwhile, a joint team of the Geology & Mining Department and Baramulla Police under the jurisdiction of Police Post Delina conducted a surprise inspection at Kanispora area of District Baramulla. During the operation, one JCB was found actively engaged in illegal extraction of minerals. The machinery was seized on the spot to prevent further damage to natural resources. Legal action has been initiated under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act, and further proceedings are underway as per law.
