Srinagar, March 08 (KAT): Police on Saturday said that it have attached the immovable property of a known drug peddler in Mazhama village of district Budgam.
In a hideout to KAT, the police said that it have attached property, valued at ₹18,00,000 (Eighteen Lac Rupees) belongs to Mohammad Rafeeq Sheikh, son of Abdul Razaq Sheikh, resident of Mazhama. This action has been carried out under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with Case FIR No. 161/2024, registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Magam.
The police spokesman further stated that the case pertains to the recovery of a commercial quantity of contraband (50 bottles of Codeine Phosphate) from the possession of the accused. J&K Police remain resolute in their commitment to identifying and initiating legal action, including the attachment and confiscation of properties acquired through illicit drug trade, under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
Police reiterates its commitment to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and offenders are brought to justice. The general public is urged to cooperate in this endeavour by reporting any information related to illegal drug trafficking to the concerned police authorities.(KAT)
