Illegal mining & transportation of minerals: Police arrests 13 persons, seized 13 vehicles in Kulgam

October 25: To curb the menace of illegal mining, Police in Kulgam along with Geology and Mining Department Kulgam have seized 13 vehicles (01 JCBs, 01 Tipper & 11 Tractors) & arrested 13 persons involved in extraction & transportation of minerals from river Vishaw at Chahlan and other areas.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Qaimoh, Qazigund and DH Pora and further investigation have been initiated.

People are requested to come forward or Dial-112 regarding any information about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Police warns stringent action as per law against those whosoever found involved in such activities.
