Two Militants were in an ongoing encounter with counter insurgents forces at Sugoo village of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Wednesday.
An official said that join team of Army, Special operations group (SOG) and Center Reserve police Forces (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation after specific inputs about the presence of Militants in that area.
As such the join team of force approached towards the suspected spot, the hidding militants fired upon them, triggering of a brief exchange of fire, he said.
He said in the initial phase of a gunfight, two Militants have been killed and operation is goin on. The identity slain militants were not known immediately, said he official.
This is third encounter in Shopian since Sunday.
On Sunday a top Hisb commander including five militants were killed in reban village of the district.
On Monday four militants were killed in pinjoora area of the district.
