Srinagar, Jun 12 : A massive hunt has been launched to bring to justice the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants involved in the killing of a Sarpanch Ajay Pandita in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on June 9 evening, a police spokesman said.
He said Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh during his visit to south Kashmir on Thursday was informed that two militants of HM involved in the killing of Pandita have been identified.
He was informed that a massive hunt has already been launched to bring militants to justice.
Pandita who was Congress sarpanch of Lukbawan in Larkipora in Anantnag was shot at by militants on Monday last at 1800 hrs. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Several organizations of Kashmiri Migrant Pandits have strongly condemned the killing of Pandita.
The National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Apni Party (AP) and Congress have also condemned the killing and demanded a probe.
Congress alleged that Pandita was not provided any security despite threat perception.
However, the BJP said Pakistan was involved in the killing of Pandita.
