Anantnag, June 10, KNT: Over a half dozen ladies are stuck at Maternity Care Hospital here in South Kashmir waiting for the test reports about Covid-19 infection.
Reports said that several pregnant ladies had normal deliveries at MCH Anantnag and want to be discharged. But, the administration is not allowing them as their Covid-19 reports are still awaited.
“I wonder how these pregnant ladies were admitted in the hospital without knowing about their Covid-19 status. Testing prior to delivery was mandatory for the pregnant ladies and medical staff had been directed to go for mass testing of pregnant ladies. God forbid if test of any of these ladies waiting for the discharge is found positive, it will involve more people. More doctors and Para-medical staff have to go for quarantine. This is sheer negligence,” a local told news agency KNT.
Sources said that there are over 8 ladies whose samples have been taken a week back after the normal deliveries. “I am from Saadwar Dooru area. The test report of my wife has yet to come. I am facing lot of problems. The hospital Canteen remains closed and no food is available in outside hotels as well. From past 8 days the test report has not come,” Muhammad Ashraf Mir said.
Similarly, the family members of other ladies who have been forcibly kept in the hospital narrated the same tale. A Banihal family said that they are out of pocket and face lot of hardships in the hospital. “We should be allowed to go to home. We have been forcibly kept here. We don’t know how much time it will further take to get the test report,” said Muhammad Sultan.
Medical Superintendent MCH Anantnag, Dr SM Andrabi told KNT that the fault lies with testing laboratories which cause too much delay in dispatching the reports. “We wish they leave the hospital and their reports come without any further delay,” he said. (KNT)
