Another Unexploded Artillery Shell from Operation Sindoor Neutralised in Uri Sector

Uri, Jan 12 (GNS): For the second time in recent days, an unexploded artillery shell believed to be 'a remnant of Operation Sindoor' was detected and safely neutralised in the Uri sector of north Kashmir, official sources said on Monday.

They told GNS, the shell was spotted in the open fields of Balkote village. "Upon receiving the information, a police team immediately rushed to the spot, secured the area, and ensured the safety of local residents," they said adding, "the concerned Army unit later deployed its Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), which safely defused the shell on the spot in accordance with standard safety procedures."

"No loss of life or damage to property was reported during the operation," they further said.

Pertinent to mention here that the incident follows a similar case on Thursday, when another unexploded artillery shell from Operation Sindoor was detected in the upper reaches of Garkote village in Uri.

Authorities have in the meantime urged residents, particularly in border areas, to remain vigilant and immediately inform police or Army units if any suspicious objects are found. (GNS)
