Srinagar, March 24 (KAT): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a hideout to KAT, police said that a team led by SHO Police Station Handwara, during routine patrolling on GMC Handwara Road, intercepted a suspicious person namely Abdul Wahid Bhat, son of Ab Khaliq Bhat, a resident of Turkpora Zachaldara. During search, 9.14 grams of a brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession. Subsequently he has been arrested.
The police spokesman further stated that in this regard, a case vide FIR No. 63/2025 U/S 8/21 NDPS under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and an investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
