NDA's Worry Shows NC-Congress Alliance is about more Than Elections: Tariq Karra

Srinagar, September 05: In a sharp critique of the ruling coalition, J&K Congress President Tariq Karra on Thursday said that the fear within the NDA camp over the newly formed alliance in Jammu and Kashmir speaks volumes about the significance of this coalition.

Speaking to reporters during filing his nomination papers, Karra said that the NC-Congress alliance is not just about winning elections but is focused on preserving the dignity, identity, and rights of the people of J&K, challenging the electoral strategies of the NDA.

"If their alliances are right, why do they have a problem with this alliance? The plan they had set up is being defeated by this coalition, which is not for electoral gains but for a noble cause", he aaded.

Karra further said that NC-Confress alliance is to restore the rights given by the constitution not just about forming a government. "This alliance is to save the dignity of the people here, to restore all the rights that our constitution has given us,"

He said that the current electoral landscape in J&K is not typical. "The fragmentation of votes has been going on since 2014, and what they want is to disempower the Kashmiris by fragmenting their votes," he added.

Karra said that any mistake in the upcoming elections could have long-lasting consequences. "The current electoral contours and parameters are not for a normal election. If people make a mistake today, it will have an effect on them for the next 100 years," he said.

On his connections with people, Karra said that he has been with the people, whether he was in the electoral fray or not, for a long time now. "We've been in touch and working together closely," he added.
