Srinagar, Aug 10: Two soldiers were killed in action during a fierce gunbattle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district today. A soldier and two civilians were injured.
The police said the encounter began in Anantnag district's Ahlan Gadole this afternoon.
Terrorists targeted the army patrol while they were carrying out an anti-terror operation in the forest in the Kokernag subdivision.
The army's special forces - paratroopers - are part of the operation to flush out terrorists who are believed to be foreigners.
"Two civilians have also been reported injured due to indiscriminate, desperate and reckless firing by terrorists in the ongoing operation; they have been provided immediate medical aid and evacuated further. Operations are under progress,"
