Pulwama, 24 February 2021 (KLU) : A woman from South Kashmir's Pulwama district is all set to publish her first book after writing on various social issues in the past five years.
Sakeena Jabbar pen name Sakeena Jabeen (27), a resident of Pathan village in Pulwama district is winning hearts by writing short stories, articles and poems on very critical issues of the society.
Sakeena while talking to news agency—Kashmir Live Updates (KLU) said that she was interested in writing since her childhood but during 2016 agitation, she got time to write on different things.
“So far I have written poems in hundreds, short stories and articles and some of them have got published in different papers and online news outlets,” she said, adding that "I have won awards for writing at different platforms,".
She said that the aim of her writing is just to give voice to the voice less people,” she said, adding that “writing keeps me alive and if I won't write anything, I feel like I am dead.”
She said that there is no freedom of speech in Kashmir and anyone who raises voice here is being punished. “I have been writing on critical topics like is journalism a crime in Kashmir".
She said that to keep “ourselves away from bad people, bad habits, anxiety and depression, one must spend his spare time in reading and writing.”
Sakeena said that Youth of J&K are very much talented but there is need to guide them, show them right path and support them financially as dreams of thousands of youth get shattered due to financial constraints. “We must work hard and be consistent, success will touch our feet itself,” she added—(KLU).
