Illegal Property Of Drug Peddler Demolished In Baramulla


Srinagar, May 10 (KAT): Police on Friday demolished an illegally constructed structure including one shop belonging to a habitual drug peddler in Janbazpora area in North Kashmir's Baramulla. 

In a hideout to KAT, police said the accused, Riyaz Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Nabi Khan, a resident of Janbazpora Baramulla, had encroached upon state land and raised the structure without any legal permission.

He is involved in multiple NDPS cases & FIR has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, official said. 

During investigation and verification, it emerged that the structure was constructed on illegally occupied land using proceeds allegedly generated from narcotics trafficking. Authorities said the construction violated revenue laws and established legal procedures.

Further investigation has indicated that close associates and family members of the accused are also allegedly involved in multiple NDPS cases across the Valley, suggesting a wider network linked to drug trafficking.

Acting on credible inputs and after completing all legal formalities, the demolition was carried out in coordination with concerned authorities and strictly in accordance with the law.

Police said the action sends a strong message that properties derived from drug trafficking will not be tolerated and that strict legal action will continue against those involved in narcotics trade.

Baramulla Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and said it remains committed to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem, including its financial and logistical networks. It also urged citizens to support efforts to combat drug abuse and protect society, particularly the youth, from the growing menace.(KAT)
