Srinagar, December 27 (KAT): In a continued drive against illegal mineral extraction, Baramulla Police seized three tractors that were found illegally extracting boulders and gravel from Wanigam Nallah Kreeri.
In a hideout to KAT, police said that the action was taken during routine surveillance and checking in the area. Upon verification, it was established that the extraction was being carried out without any legal authorization. The Tractors bearing registration number JK03H 4033, Eng No. NKA2UDE0218, Eng. No. NSB2UYE0350 were immediately seized, and action under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) was initiated against the violators.
Baramulla Police remains steadfast in its commitment to curb illegal mining activities and appeals to the general public to cooperate in protecting natural resources. Strict legal action shall continue against anyone found involved in such unlawful practices.(KAT)
