Baramulla ARTO Issues Final Notice to Unregistered Vehicle Dealers

Srinagar, Dec 27 (GNS): The Motor Vehicles Department, Baramulla, has issued a final notice to unregistered vehicle dealers operating in the district, warning of strict legal action for unauthorised resale or purchase of registered vehicles.

The notice, issued by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer Baramulla, a copy of which lies with GNS, states that a circular was earlier issued on December 4, 2025, in compliance with orders of the Transport Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir and provisions of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. The circular, the notice says, banned unauthorised trade of registered vehicles in the district after a 21 day compliance period.

The notice mentions that despite the expiry of the deadline, several dealers failed to submit registration applications and continued unauthorised resale of vehicles. "Such violations attract legal action for breach of orders issued by the competent authority."

Providing a final opportunity, the ARTO has granted seven days from December 27, 2025, to all unregistered dealers to complete the registration process. The notice warns that failure to comply within the stipulated period will result in seizure of establishments without any further notice, along with initiation of legal proceedings under relevant laws.
