Srinagar, November 23 (KAT): The Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that the winter break for students up to the 12th classes is likely to begin from the 2nd week of December due to the prevailing cold weather conditions.
Speaking to Kashmir Abb Tak, the minister said parents have been repeatedly requesting clarity on the schedule for winter vacations, as the harsh weather becomes difficult for younger children. She said a meeting has already been held on the matter.
“We have tentatively decided that for higher classes, summer vacation will probably start from the 2nd week of December,” the minister said.
Referring to the issue of school textbooks, Itoo said the matter has been streamlined to a large extent. “Directions have been issued to ensure there is no shortage of books or uniforms,” she said.
The minister also said strict instructions have been passed to the JKBOSE Secretary, Chairman, Education Secretary and other officials to act against private schools that violate government norms.(KAT)
