Srinagar, March 09 (KAT): In a decisive step towards eliminating the drug menace, Police on Sunday said that property of a known drug peddler has been attached in Nadigam village of Soibugh area Tehsil Narbal District Budgam.
In a hideout to KAT, the police said that it have attached property a four-storey shopping complex comprising of around 40 shops at village Nadigam and around six canals of land situated at village Chek Wazir Panoo belongs to Ghulam Ahmad Dar @Gulsaka son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Nadigam Tehsil Narbal District Budgam. Worth mentioning, the market value of the said property is around 3.5 crores. This action has been carried out under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with Case FIR No. 198/2019 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Budgam.
The police spokesman further stated that the case pertains to the recovery of commercial quantity of contraband substances Codeine Phosphate and poppy straw from the possession of the accused. Police remain resolute in their commitment to identifying and initiating legal action, including the attachment and confiscation of properties acquired through illicit drug trade, under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
Police reiterates its commitment to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and offenders are brought to justice. The general public is urged to cooperate in this endeavour by reporting any information related to illegal drug trafficking to the concerned police authorities, reads the statement.(KAT)
