Srinagar, Sep 20: All Colleges and Schools Will Remain Closed today on the Account of the Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (Saw).
The Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi is a holiday to be observed throughout the state.
Eid e-Milad-un Nabi is the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also commonly known as ‘Milad un Nabi’ (Saw). It is celebrated on the 12th day of the month of Rabiul-awal, the third month of the Muslim calendar.
Salaat-ul-Jumu’ah (the Friday prayer), is a religious act which takes the place of the daily afternoon prayer each Friday. It is one of the most exalted Islamic rituals and one of its confirmed non-obligatory acts.
Thousands of devotees will visit the Hazratbal Shrine, popularly called Dargah Sharif (“the Holy Shrine”). This is a Muslim shrine located in Hazratbal locality of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. It contains a relic, Moi-e-Muqqadas, which is widely believed to be the hair of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
