Ink & Inspiration; Tanzeela Akhoon’s Calligraphy journey proves age just a number

Baramulla, 17 January 2023,(KAT) : At the age of only 13-years, Tanzeela Nabi Akhoon has already made a name for herself as a self-taught artist and calligrapher. Hailing from the Khanpora area of Baramulla in North Kashmir district, Tanzeela has been drawing and sketching since childhood, but it wasn’t until she stumbled upon a post about calligraphy online that she discovered her true passion.

The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period, when everyone used to stay at their homes – Tanzeela utilized the period to hone her skills and create new pieces with her father’s immense support and encouragement, which made her to fully immerse herself in her art and develop her own unique style.

“Whatever I see and feel, I try to portray it in my work. My work makes me happy and gives me peace of mind and sense of satisfaction”, said Tanzeela.

In addition to the artistic benefits, calligraphy also has cognitive benefits, stimulating neuronal activity and helping to improve vocabulary and writing skills. Tanzeela also sees the benefits of using calligraphy as a way to improve haptic perception, which is lost when typing on mobile and electronic devices.

Now, Tanzeela is using social media platforms to promote her work and share her passion with the world. With her sights set on taking her art to the international level, she is a shining example of how following one’s passion can lead to true success.

“Follow your passion if you want to see yourself happy” She added. “Success is better defined as an achievement of a desired aim or purpose.” With her talent and dedication, Tanzeela is well on her way to achieving her goals and inspiring others to do the same.
