Pulwama, 05 December 2020 (KLU): Police have registered a formal case against unknown persons who have caused damage to the properties of those who cast their vote in District Development Council elections yesterday.
Locals said that during the intervening night of December 4 and 5, unknown persons damaged houses and vehicles and even set the dry grass on fire in Karimabad village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
They said that houses and vehicles of those were targeted who had cast vote on Friday.
Some parts of Pulwama district had gone for DDC polls on Friday. Pulwama witnessed 10.87% turn out, the lowest as compared to other districts. The polling percentage recorded in Kupwara was 46.25%, Baramulla 30.94%, Ganderbal 24.69%, Shopian 22.68%, Anantnag 21.64%.
“The unknown youth pelted stones on houses, broke windowpanes and set the dry grass on fire,” said a local who identified some of the victims as Ghulam Nabi Zargar, Shahbaz Pandit and Abbas Pandit.
He said that parked vehicles were also damaged.
SSP Pulwama Ashish Mishra told news agency _ KASHMIR LIVE UPDATES (KLU) that a legal action has been initiated against those who have damaged the properties of people in Pulwama hamlet.
“Those who will be found guilty will face the music,” he said. (KLU)
