Budgam, July 9, (JKON): Authorities have failed to post a specialized doctor at the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Chewdara Beerwah of Central Kashmir Budgam district.
Locals told news agency (JKON) that NTPHC is still run by a Pharmacist and despite their repeated pleas authorities have failed to depute a specialized doctor.
“This Pharmacist has been acting as a doctor and is performing the same duties,” they said adding that any NTPHC health centre must consist of specialist doctor and some technicians.
They said after a Resident Medical Officer was transferred from the said Health Centre, no specialized doctor was posted in the Centre.
This is the only health centre for seven villages including Chewdara, Ohangam, Meerpora, Wanihuma, Chak, Machama and Dragar, which together have a population of more than fifteen-thousand.
Locals from these villages said that the doctor at the health centre was attached to JLNM Hospital in Srinagar 11 months ago, and since then patient care has been seriously affected
Chief Medical Officer, Budgam, Dr Tajamul Hussain as usual didn’t pick up the phone, however, another health official said that a specialized doctor will be posted in the Centre as soon as possible. (JKON)
